Yesterday, during an appropriations testimony, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick suggested the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) may issue a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the $42.45 billion BEAD program.
This comment comes amid growing frustration over the delay in guidance for the current NOFO. A new NOFO could require states to restart their application processes from the beginning.
As of now, the NTIA has not confirmed whether new guidance or a new NOFO is forthcoming.
At Mission Broadband, we’re following this development closely, as it may impact BEAD timelines and broadband project strategies across the country.
