Last week, the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a nomination hearing for Arielle Roth, the nominee for Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information.
If confirmed, Roth will lead the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and oversee key broadband initiatives, including the BEAD program.
During her hearing, Roth outlined her priorities for advancing U.S. communications policy. These included:
- Expanding broadband access through the implementation of BEAD
- Leveraging spectrum resources to support innovation and protect national security
- Supporting parents in protecting children from digital harm
- Promoting U.S. interests in global telecom standard-setting
Roth brings deep policy experience and a strong bipartisan track record to this role. Her leadership will play an important part in shaping the next phase of broadband deployment and digital equity efforts across the country.
